Robert Dorey has been a full-time professional people photographer for more than 20 years. The Montreal-area native is based in Kitchener-Waterloo, ON, where he owns and operates Picture Yourself photography studio (since 1999).
In this venture, Robert is meshing his technical camera skills with his love of nature. He has been amassing a collection of landscape photos over the past few years. His longer term goal is to eventually devote more time and energy to landscape photography and create a vast collection of work to display to the public.
So what exactly inspires Robert as a landscape photographer? It’s not only the big things like mountains and oceans. In fact, it probably has more to do with the little things… like the way sunlight evokes so many shades of green in the trees; how water trickles off rocks after a big wave crashes ashore; or seeing the complexities of a spiderweb appear when the air becomes thick with moisture. In the end, there are too many reasons to list. But as much as he loves mountains and oceans, it’s definitely the little things that intrigue him most.
